But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.
In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one business is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
